OFF-OFF CAMPUS MEMBERS
American improvisational theater was created at UChicago in the early 1950s by Mike Nichols, Elaine May, Paul Sills, and others. Student groups became the Compass Players, which became The Second City, which gave birth to Off-Off Campus.
Second City forefather Bernie Sahlins returned to campus to create a group which he bragged could outdo the best of them on Chicago's North Side. What Bernie started is still going strong, and the list of members grows by 8 or so per year.
Interested in joining Off-Off Campus? Auditions are held during the first week of Fall quarter.
